After winning a point in the US Open final and bent on proving a point, Novak Djokovic leaped and roared and threw an uppercut then glared at some of the thousands of spectators pulling for Roger Federer.Following another point in that game, Djokovic nodded as he smiled towards the stands. And moments later, Djokovic shook his right arm, bloodied by an early fall, and screamed, “Yes! Yes!” to celebrate a missed forehand by Federer.Djokovic appeared to be all alone out there in the Arthur Ashe Stadium, trying to solve Federer while also dealing with a crowd loudly supporting the 17-time major champion proclaimed “arguably the greatest player in the history of the sport” during pre-match introductions. In the end, Djokovic handled everything in a thrill-a-minute final on a frenetic night. Thwarting Federer with his relentless defence and unparalleled returning, Djokovic took control late and held on for a 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 victory on Sunday to earn his second US Open title, third major championship of the year, and 10th Grand Slam trophy in all.”We pushed each other to the limit,” the No. 1-ranked Djokovic said, “as we always do.”Djokovic, who is 63-5 in 2015, including 27-1 at majors, said he understood why the crowd backed Federer – but hopes to someday get that sort of support.”You do let sometimes certain things to distract you,” Djokovic said about interacting with the fans. “But it’s important to get back on the course and go back to basics and why you are there and what you need to do.”He certainly was able to do that.unreachable shotsContorting his body this way and that, sneakers squeaking loudly as he changed directions or scraping like sandpaper as he slid to reach unreachable shots, Djokovic forced the 34-year-old Federer to put the ball into the tiniest of spaces. Federer wound up with 54 unforced errors, 17 more than Djokovic.Another key statistic: Djokovic won 10 of the first 12 points that lasted at least 10 strokes.Perhaps the most pivotal of all: Djokovic saved 19 of the 23 break points he faced, while winning six of Federer’s service games.”Some of them, I could have done better, should have done better,” the second-ranked Federer said. From late in the third set to 5-2 in the fourth, Djokovic took control against a wilting Federer by claiming eight of 10 games. Federer made one last stand, breaking to get within 5-3 and holding for 5-4, but a forehand return that flew long left Djokovic as the champion, pointing to his heart.- AP

It tells the story of South Africa’s 1995 Rugby World Cup victory on home turf, when then president Nelson Mandela joined forces with rugby captain Francois Pienaar to help unite black and white South Africans after the fall of apartheid only a year before.Mandela is played by Freeman, whose previous productions include The Dark Knight, Evan Almighty and Lucky Number Slevin, while fellow Oscar-winner Matt Damon – star of The Departed, Ocean’s Thirteen and The Bourne Ultimatum – will play Pienaar.“This is by far the biggest film ever made in Cape Town, with at least 70% of the production process taking place in the city,” the CTC said.Another production in the pipeline is Heaven and Earth featuring the lead star of four James Bond films Pierce Brosnan. The film is a romantic drama set in 1826 when the Cape was still a British colony.Lion of Judah, the first full-length South African film using computer-generated imagery, was also recently made in Cape Town and is set for international release soon.Earlier this year parts of the Bollywood action comedy No Problem were filmed in the city. Prolific Indian director Anees Bazmee also took the stellar cast, including Anil Kapoor of Slumdog Millionaire fame and former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen, to various locations in KwaZulu-Natal.“Laconia is another big budget film being produced locally. It’s based on the sinking of the RMS Laconia by a German submarine off the West Coast of Africa during World War II,” the CFC said. The film is being made by Cape Town-based Two Oceans Production with a budget of more than R60-million (US$8-million). “All the services, suppliers, equipment, materials and back-up crew have been sourced from the city,” Mitchell said.Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton recently arrived in the city to shoot a commercial for a European bank. The piece, made by Cape Town’s Farm Film Productions, was shot over three days in the 4km-long Huguenot Tunnel that runs east towards the scenic Cape Winelands.“This was a huge technical operation that involved helicopters, lifts and a local crew of about 150 people. Having someone of that stature coming here to do a major shoot is great endorsement for the region and South Africa. It shows that international stars have confidence in our production capabilities,” Mitchell said.
UPDATED on December 4, 2013 with a citation of recent research findings. What’s the deal with thermal mass? Since manufacturers of materials that incorporate concrete often exaggerate the benefits of thermal mass, it’s easy to get cynical and conclude that the buzz around thermal mass is all hype. But in many climates, it’s actually useful to have a lot of thermal mass inside your house. Just keep in mind that thermal mass may not be as beneficial as its boosters pretend.Thermal mass is a solid or liquid material that can store heat. Most of the objects inside your house can be considered thermal mass, including plaster, furniture, books, and canned tomato soup. The specific heat capacity of building materials varies. In general, denser building materials have a higher specific heat capacity per unit of volume than less dense materials, which is why concrete, stone, and gypsum wallboard are more likely to be used to provide extra thermal mass than wood.A building with lots of thermal mass on the interior side of the insulation may have lower energy bills than one without as much thermal mass, for reasons I’ll explain soon. But it’s important to point out that thermal mass can’t heat or cool your house. It’s just plain old concrete. To heat and cool your house, you still need HVAC equipment. Here are some analogies:Traditional homes in hot climates often have thick walls made of stone or adobe. If daytime temperatures are often above 80° or 85°F and nighttime temperatures are usually below 65°F, this method of wall construction — one that incorporates a lot of thermal mass — makes sense. At dawn, the wall is cool. When the sun begins to heat the wall during the day, it takes a long… Sign up for a free trial and get instant access to this article as well as GBA’s complete library of premium articles and construction details. China’s Lu Xiaojun broke two of his own world records as he took the Olympic gold in the men’s 77kg weightlifting category. Lu Xiaojun headed the field with a world record total of 379 kg, one more than his previous world best, and Wednesday set a separate world record of 175 kg in the snatch part of the event, beating his own record of 174 kg.He achieved the overall record with a clean and jerk lift of 204 kg, which he managed on his last lift despite sinking into a squat with the massive weight above his head before completing the lift.”I feel absolutely amazing,” Lu said.Asked about breaking records, he said it was “not bad.””Most of the records were my own to begin with. But I’m very happy.”His compatriot Lu Haoije managed a total of 360 kg to give China a one-two finish, despite injuring his left arm during the competition.”During the second snatch my elbows were stretched. The right not so bad, but the left very bad,” he said.Asked how he was still able to compete, Lu Haoije said: “It is the Olympics. How could I just give up? I just decided to try everything.”Bronze went to Cuba’s Ivan Cambar Rodriguez, who managed a total of 349 kg before watching his two main rivals for third place failing to make their lifts.Thailand’s Chatuphum Chinnawong twice managed to lift the 195 kg weight he needed for bronze above his head in the clean and jerk, but failed to manage a legal lift, while Egyptian lifter Ibrahim Ramadan Ibrahim’s failure at 197 kg was enough to guarantee Cambar Rodriguez a bronze.advertisement
.The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Friday demanded inclusion of the party chairperson’s personal physicians in the medical board formed by the government for the treatment of Khaleda Zia, reports UNB.“Our leader’s (Khaleda’s) personal physicians were not kept in the medical board formed by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). It has exposed government’s vindictive attitude,” said BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.Speaking at a press conference at BNP’s Naya Paltan central office, he said their party sent the names of Khaleda’s five personal physicians as per the verbal message of the jail authorities. The BNP leader alleged that the government did not include them in the medical team as it is ‘unwilling’ to ensure proper treatment of Khaleda Zia. “I, behalf of our party, like to say our leader’s personal physicians must be included in the medical team,” he said.Referring to their senior leaders’ meeting with the home minister on 9 September, Rizvi said Asaduzzaman Khan assured the BNP team of keeping their chairperson’s personal physicians in the medical team.He also alleged that the medical board was formed with physicians who are ‘loyal to the ruling party’.Earlier on Thursday, the government formed a five-member medical board for examining Khaleda’s health condition and ensuring her treatment.Meanwhile, at a discussion, BNP vice-chairman AZM Zahid Hossain alleged that Khaleda’s medical team was formed dropping seniors of BSMMU at the behest at the government.“Senior doctors who could provide good suggestion about Khaleda’s treatment were not kept in the medical board. It was formed with those doctors who are loyal to the government and will work as per its directives,” he said.Zahid, also the general secretary of Doctors Association of Bangladesh, came up with the allegation at a programme arranged by Bangladesh Youth Form at the National Press Club.

The text above her reads: “Vilnius, the G-spot of Europe” and “Nobody knows where it is, but when you find it, it’s amazing.”Advertising campaign introducing #Lithuania n capital #Vilnius as “the G-Spot of Europe”, is the best for the international market, Vilnius’ Municipality says. https://t.co/MfgARxPNCu pic.twitter.com/faaTqNmBNQ— Lithuania Tribune (@lithuaniatribun) August 4, 2018Lithuanian Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis said Tuesday he does not find the campaign, set to be launched Thursday in London and Berlin, offensive to standards of public decency, but acknowledged its timing was “rather weird”.More news: Visit Orlando unveils new travel trade tools & agent perks“I think it’s a strange advertising choice, but I believe it does not cross the line in a democratic country,” Skvernelis told Lithuanian public broadcaster LRT.Francis’ Sept. 22-25 tour of Baltic countries is supposed to start in Lithuania, where Catholics are the religious majority.“As to the timing, we are speaking about a very important visit to Lithuania,” the prime minister added, referring to the pope’s visit. “So perhaps these steps should have been co-ordinated, but that’s the decision of Vilnius.”Lithuanian priests expressed concerns that the ad used “women’s sexuality for advertising” and gave “wrong ideas” about Vilnius, a city with a population of 540,000. The government earlier originally asked Vilnius officials to postpone the ad’s launch until after the papal visit.Inga Romanovskiene, the manager of the Go Vilnius tourism agency behind the campaign, called the pope’s visit “a very important event”.Vilnius faces “a very high level of competition from other European cities” when it comes to marketing, and those who presented the campaign had “an extremely engaging idea to drive interest in the city,” she added.
